Ngawang Chokyi is eighteen years old. She was born into a farmer's family in Dhingri which is in the central part of Tibet. She went to school in her village for three years. After facing many family problems, she had to leave school and was asked to help with the family work. She constantly requested of her parents to let her become a nun. Finally, her parents sent her to Nepal. She reached the Turquoise Leaf Nunnery on January 15, 2002 and became a nun. Now she is studying dharma scriptures and Tibetan language. She is very happy to be allowed the chance to study.
